Redefining Support

Sep 8, 2021 10:00:00 AM

At Truvelop, we’re here to help companies improve Manager and Team Member relationships by increasing meaningful touch points, promoting real-time feedback, and focusing on development and upskilling opportunities. One of the many benefits of Truvelop is the messaging our amazing Customer Success team distributes on the 1st and 15th of every month. Meryl Goeke and Juliana Withers share best practices with end users on various topics and this month, we’re focusing on holistic support.

What does it mean to provide holistic support?

Let’s start off by acknowledging the following: There is no one, right way to think about a problem. Instead, it’s about how you approach and respond to the issue and your willingness to adapt, be flexible, and pivot quickly where needed.

A holistic business approach “connects every department in an organization to help them work as one team. All employees work together to achieve an overarching organizational goal. Everyone understands how their work benefits the company as a whole…” according to Indeed. Using a holistic approach can:

  • empower employees through an emphasis on their role and contributions
  • encourage fresh perspectives with creative problem solving and 'team first' mentality
  • identify challenges and find solutions that benefit all parties

How To Holistically Support Team Members Using Truvelop

Holistic management can be thought of as a daily practice, but it is not a skill that can be developed overnight. Practicing holistic management requires the right mindset, commitment, and the right tools. The first step is to reflect and think about how to best engage with the Team Member, focus on the feedback you are looking to provide, and consider how it will be received by the audience. Truvelop is perfectly positioned to help support best practices in holistic management. Here's how:

  • Recognize Team Members’ strengths. Celebrate top performers, encourage, and motivate steady performers, and find out more about the barriers and challenges your under performers are facing. Truvelop’s Evaluation Insights can help to identify teams’ strengths.  Gallup has found that “simply learning their strengths makes employees 7.8% more productive, and teams that focus on strengths every day have 12.5% greater productivity.” We recommend Managers recognize team members on the Recognition Wall to reinforce positive behavior change or when a Team Member has successfully leveraged their strengths. Strength-focused feedback can help motivate and inspire employees which directly impacts your organization’s success!

  • Have more meaningful conversations with Team Members. Whether Managers are struggling to have tough conversations, trying to determine which Team Members are ready for growth, or wondering how to set expectations and goals with team members, they’re able to take advantage of the micro-learning training resources available in Truvelop’s Knowledge Center. Check out one of our quick videos: How to Have More Effective Manager – Team Member Conversations.

  • Increase transparent communication. Strong managers and leaders provide real-time feedback and engage in collaborative open dialogue using active listening. Through regular touchpoints, Managers are able to timely and accurately support Team Members opportunities for growth. By using Truvelop’s Spark feature, Managers can capture an idea, observation, interaction, discussion, or a coaching moment in real-time. Acknowledging behaviors and actions in the moment highlights the Manager’s investment in their Team Member’s development while also keeping the human element in mind, again bringing in a holistic approach to our support.

With the war on talent top of mind, now is a great time to practice holistic management and provide holistic support to team members. Retention is key. Truvelop can help.
