One of the many benefits of Truvelop is the messaging our Customer Success team sends to leaders and managers on the 1st and 15th of every month. Through Truvelop Tips, Meryl Goeke and Juliana Withers share best practices, proactive recommendations, and quicks tips with end users on various topics. This month, we are focusing on the employee experience and retention. Here is an excerpt from this month’s Truvelop Tip.
When considering the holistic employee experience, it helps to understand what motivates and inspires team members, what they’re working towards, and what they need from their managers. Here are 3 tips for managers to consider as they work towards improving the overall employees experience to promote engagement and retention.
- Identify and Develop Motivators: Why does each team member come to work and give it their all each day? What helps them push through challenges? Managers can open up this conversation with team members by having them complete the Individual Development Plans in the Knowledge Center. Showing dedication to creating a positive and meaningful work environment will help team members to check-in and stay engaged.
- Set Performance and Career Goals: Setting both short and long-term goals can help an employee to stay on track. When we blend long-term career goals with short-term performance goals, we are creating a personal, emotional investment in the creation of those professional goals. Additionally, “employees who strongly agree that their managers helped them set performance goals are 69% more engaged compared to employees who did not have managers help them” (Gallup). With each goal-setting check-in, we recommend managers try to emphasize the why behind the desired performance outcomes.
- Request Feedback: Managers are typically the ones delivering feedback. They share coaching tips or praise to their direct reports. However, receiving feedback from Team Members can really strengthen the relationships and build even more trust. It’s important to hear about the employee experience directly from the source! In Truvelop, Managers can Request a Spark from a Team Member or ask for feedback in a Spark; simply opening up the conversation can increase employee engagement and give them a stronger sense of autonomy.
