It’s a new year and an opportunity for a fresh start with your team! Whether you’ve been using the Truvelop app for the past year or just a few weeks, take the time to put together a plan that will help you maximize the use of the tool to improve engagement with your team.

Don’t underestimate the power of communication. There is no such thing as too much communication. In fact, for those with a widely distributed workforce and so many teams now working remotely that didn’t in the past, communication is the key to efficiency and improved performance.

Create a regular – and frequent! – schedule for evaluations. Evaluations will help you memorialize what your team member is doing well and not doing so well.

The Spark function is another critical component because it provides team members with ongoing encouragement and recognition.

In addition to regular evaluations, you can use an evaluation or Spark to document specific incidents. This can help a team to stay on track, boost morale, and foster collaboration.

For example:

  • You see a Team Member doing something exceptional. Memorialize it! Evaluate them and capture it.
  • You see a Team Member doing something dangerous, exceptionally wrong, or blatantly inappropriate.
  • You get the chance to spend time with a Team Member while they do their job. Evaluate or Spark them to capture your impressions.

Schedule regular 1:1 meetings with your team members. More frequent, shorter conversations are a far more effective strategy than longer, less frequent interactions.

These meetings will allow the opportunity to better understand their challenges and explore ways to help them make adjustments, establish new goals or access professional development support. Reflect on what you know about each team member, work with each team member to develop a collaborative plan forward following your discussion, and continue to review and revise goals and behaviors to ensure efficient and meaningful development.

Truvelop was designed for two-way communication so encourage your team members to become active users of the app as well. Team Members can document major takeaways, questions, updates, and observations in the app. This can help managers provide support and encouragement where it’s needed most.

By documenting your observations, tracking progress towards goals, and providing team members with encouragement, you can increase engagement and employee morale.

The app also provides manager cue cards that offer insights for ways to encourage and communicate with employees based on their performance and evaluation scores.

Active and frequent use of the app provides employees with the guidance and reinforcement needed to remain engaged and focused while helping managers develop more efficient and impactful performance management strategies.
