We are excited to announce that our CEO, Lisa First-Willis, will be presenting at the BSCAI (Building Service Contractors Association International) Contracting Success Conference November 17-19.

Her presentation, entitled Delivering Effective Feedback to Spark Self Reflection and Growth, will focus on the impact ongoing feedback can have on employee development and engagement.

We are proud to work with contractors who are committed to improving communication with their employees to build a culture that values professional growth and recognizes the challenges of maintaining engagement with remote workers.

Communication is imperative to talent retention. Gallup research has found that “consistent communication -- whether it occurs in person, over the phone or electronically -- is connected to higher engagement.”

According to OfficeVibe, 96% of employees say they want to hear feedback regularly, and 83% of employees appreciate receiving feedback, regardless if it’s positive or negative.

Improving employee performance and attitude requires ongoing conversations and specific examples for the team member to consider and reflect upon.

Context matters and the more of it provided in evaluations, the more informative and useful your data becomes over time.

Check-in with employees. Why are they struggling? What barriers are they facing? Opening up that conversation with questions and offering to help work through solutions fosters a stronger level of trust between the manager and team members.

Develop your coaching skills! In order to help someone else find success, it’s important to develop strong communication skills as a manager. Managers are rarely trained and it takes special skills to make an impact.

Effective feedback requires ongoing communication, context and coaching so that employees understand areas for growth and how to develop. A manager-employee relationship that values communication and open dialogue fosters stronger employee engagement that drives productivity to support employee retention.
